Like decorated soldiers of war, there are many who carry battle scars proudly, like medals of honor. Nothing wrong with that. Except that it keeps you stuck in the past, where you get to commemorate your wounds over and over again with whoever will listen. If battle scars are your claim to fame, there's a plus side: you get to take your personal Hall of Fame with you wherever you go. The downside: you're like a balloon that can't go any higher because a string ties you to your very own Lincoln Memorial.
